Our vision is to establish and nurture small group faith communities throughout Baltimore and Harford Counties in Maryland.

Mission and values

Salem United Methodist Church was founded in 1847. Our mission is to make disciples for Jesus Christ through worship, teaching, fellowship, and outreach. Grounded in the Wesleyan tradition, we claim our heritage as United Methodists and experience God by the working of the Holy Spirit through Scripture, reason, tradition and experience.

We are a caring and sharing congregation, welcoming all family and friends to share the resources of our faith, namely prayer, Christian education, Bible Study, and Christian community. We purposefully seek out, with the open, incarnate arms of Christ, those not of the fold, so that others may experience the love of Jesus Christ.

We are called by God to share with other churches the same work for which Christ himself was sent, namely to bring people back into a relationship of harmony with God, themselves, and their brothers and sisters. We are committed to impact our community, our country, and the world as the body of Christ, helping to meet spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

We value our role as God's stewards. We recognize the abundant blessings Salem has received and respond in gratitude by practicing faithful stewardship with respect to our resources, our time talent and the world. We seek to practice conservation and be informed and active in environmental issues.

Led by Christ's spirit, we move forward, called by hope, to transform our lives and the lives of others.
